Heh, kinda gotta agree with Jack about the architecture of some of the state buildings -- they feel like they're almost on to something, but stopped short.

Unless BPS is willing to forgo the usual box with parking lot model in favor of something more urban (there are ways to get box retailers to fit in urban spaces), I can't help but think it will ruin the feel of the area. Or at least make it feel almost, but not quite.

I too am not at all happy about that Bass pro shops going in . I think it sets a bad precedent to say the least . While no doubt great for all the anglers out there it belongs somewhere else ... Natomas & West Sac seem ready to say yes to anyone who comes in and wants to build ...

Might be good with Jerde involved instead of the usual Sacramento bad design suspects...but who knows,

Big box retail? LOL...well they (the usual Sacramento fools) thought Walmart or Target would be a good fit right next to the River City Cafe...LOL...

What with the bad design by the State schlocko Architects/Planners at the base of the East End Project and basically killing urban design in that area (The building shows touches of architectural talent, but sadly, with the State participating, the base drove a stake through urban design)

and...

the CalPers Building, also well designed but not where it counts, in it's relationship to the Street...

but that's just Living In Urban Sacramento for you...

hopefully Jerde can enlighten the local architectural/urban design dullards a bit...

don't hold your breath...they blow a lot of smoke in Sacramento
