Speaking of lobbyists, you really ought to see "Thank You for Smoking" if you haven't already. Talk about believing in what you do...

Yeah, I managed to skip his enviro. background the first time I read it. My bad. Fortunately, the short comment I did make was sufficiently snarky.

Back when I worked for the legislature in Oregon, I remember standing around with a few of my liberal colleagues when the director of the Homebuilders Association came up and engaged us in conversation. This guy is a hoot -- believes in what he does but doesn't take himself too seriously -- the conversation got around to land use, as it frequently did, and he said "Now, y'all know I'm a firm believer in preserving the land. And nothing will preserve it better than a nice coat of asphalt."

This by the way -- believes in what he does but doesn't take himself too seriously -- is the quality of a truly great lobbyist, no matter what your political stripe.

Reading that article made my head hurt.

Like Carl said, I think it's satire, but until I actually read who wrote the article, I would have believed someone felt that way, because there ARE people that feel way.

I mean really, this writer is making me wonder if he does feel that way. He is part of an environmental group, so there no way he can feel that way...is there?

I agree that it's satire, but it's WAY too subtle. Most people would take the article at face value and agree with it.
