Uneasy Rhetoric

According to the Biz Journal, California Family Fitness is inking a deal to be the anticipated luxury gym in the not exactly family-friendly Towers. Unlike their other gyms, this state-of-the art facility with, and I quote, “plush, elegant locker rooms,” (bidets, anyone?) would have to charge top dollar to attract its clients and pay off the $15 million price tag, which doesn’t include equipment.

I always thought California Family Fitness’ primary competition was from 24-Hour and maybe Golds. Looks like they’re hoping to draw from the same crowd that uses Capital Athletic for this gym. Hopefully, they’ll also change the name.

Assuming I continue to work downtown, a Towers location would be mighty convienient, but if they have to charge as much or more than Capital Athletic, it will make my Alhambra membership cheap by comparison.
