Uneasy Rhetoric

As I passed you not fifteen feet away, you were barking at the air, or so it seemed. The I heard that little voice buzzing in your ear. I heard it from fifteen feet away. I couldn’t quite make out what it said but was surprised when you said “what?”

You mean, you couldn’t hear that voice buzzing in your ear? Cuz I could. Man, I hate those bluetooth wireless headsets. Hate ‘em.

{The title of this post comes from my first visit to Paris. I was minding my own business on a random busy street in the Latin Quarter when a woman with long gray hair comes right up to me and says “Les fantômes! Peux-tu voir les fantômes?” Or something like that. Not a second later she does a dramatic flip of her head to watch a cop putter by on his motor scooter. “Oooh, les flics,” she says, and runs off.}
