Ah ha! You hide your WordPress well! On my rationale page I link to both Spam Karma and Bad Behavior. Taken together, they stop a lot of stuff. WP 2.0 will use a system called Akismet that was developed for WordPress.com.

Anti Spam Plugins You Say? Well I’m using Wordpress! I’ll look into that.

Must not do it at 1:30 AM, though, or I might poke my eye out on some sharp HTML.

You could implement something like a captcha where you have an extra field that says “You can’t post unless you type my name here. My name is John.” And then call the field something like “snort.” It might stop some of the auto-spam anyway.

If you’re getting spammed even though you’re using a DIY blogging tool, that’s rough. Comment spam almost drove me to go back to coding my own. Fortunately, WordPress has some great anti-spam plug-ins.

Hey John — thanks for the congratulations, and guys, glad you found the map useful. Now that I’m a broker the DRE makes me publish more relevant content.

I too checked out Google along the way, didn’t see anything in terms of zip codes.

Along the lines of the zip code map, I think at some point I may do a Sacramento by Neighborhoods post or section on the site. One of the things that’s become apparent to me is how bad the MLS names for the neighborhoods are, so I’d like to improve on that.

Incidentally, I liked your article too about the Sutter Expansion, must link to that. Too funny about the lofts.

All this good fellowship makes me almost want to put my comments section back up, but I hate to wade through five spams a day to get my one comment a week. Maybe I’ll do a custom job of some type, where the form just sends me an email and the default is nothing happens unless I paste it.

I agree on the usefulness of the map. I had to go far and wide to find a zip code map of Sacramento when I was home shopping a few years back. I did all my searching online, so a phone book-based map did me no good.
