State Fair/Honorable Mention/Horn Tootin’

Probably the coolest part of the State Fair was seeing one of my photographs on display. The American Academy of Sciences had an exhibit on California’s wetlands and waterways. Above the exhibit they had a slide show of photographs of different watery parts of the state and of the wildlife that lives there.

One of the slides was a photograph I took in December 2003 from the top of the pedestrian bridge at Goethe Park, over the American River. It was credited to me and everything. So cool.

American River December 2003

(By the way, in the lower right quadrant of the photo, just off the shoreline, you can see the light reflecting off of a dead salmon. The river stank that day because of a massive salmon post-spawning die-off.)
