“Terrorist Statements.”
Tags: politicsI need to say what I’m sure has already been said. So Pat Robertson has called for the assassination of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. How is Pat Robertson any different than any radical Islamic Imam calling for violence against the West? Robertson and his ilk want to create a Christian version of exactly the kind of society we supposedly abhor in the Middle East. There’s already an evangelical movement to roll back the gains women have made throughout the last century (thanks Kung Fu Monkey).
From the article:
“Any reasonable Christian ethicist probably lies awake at night wondering whatever possessed an individual like Pat Robertson to make the kind of comments he did,” [Tim] Morgan [, an editor at Christianity Today magazine,] said. “It defies reason.”
Robertson is certainly free to say what he wants; however, he is a very public persona with a responsibility to that public. He is shirking his responsibility. He is a danger to America and an insult to real Christians everywhere. May his viewership plummet and the invisible hand of the television market usher him into mediocrity and has-been reality showdom.
