Uneasy Rhetoric

I can’t say I’m surprised that the Kings traded Webber, but I will be a little sorry to see him go. It looked like he was getting back into his game. Still, the Kings did very well without him when he was injured last year; it gave Peja a chance to shine and get his mug on the cover of Sports Illustrated. From the linked article:

…Stojakovic — the NBA’s second-leading scorer last season — hasn’t been the same player since Webber returned from surgery last season, looking tentative and deferring to Webber on offense.

I’m sure there will be a lot of griping in tomorrow’s papers, but the Kings needed someone in management to take a risk in order to push them off of that “almost but not quite” plateau they’ve been on for the past three or four years.
