A Sociology Experiment
Tags: uneasy_rhetoricToday, I had a little bit of cultural experience turn on its head. I had to call my doctor, but did not want to broadcast my medical history in my open office.
In years past, to seek some privacy, I might have borrowed an office with a door, or gone into a conference room, but that would likely have brought someone in on my charade.
Now, thanks to the cell phone, I need only leave the office. Ironically, though, in order to ensure the best reception, I had to completely leave the building and stand outside.
In order to seek privacy, I had to go to a public place.
