		<description>I agree.  I think the moral high ground should belong to the Left right now.  Of course, I don&#039;t really believe the Right is all that concerned about morality, merely about the appearance of being &quot;godly.&quot;  They aren&#039;t concerned with what Jesus would do.

Perhaps that is their weakness.  Perhaps there are enough &quot;Conservative Christians&quot; who believe that a Christian lifestyle &lt;em&gt;does&lt;/em&gt; mean emulating Jesus, that we can break through.</description>

		<description>It seems to me that this is one of the key battles us lefties will have to fight in the next two years: reclaiming the rhetoric of &quot;morality&quot; from the Christians. And it seems like it could be a winning battle - hard to dispute that &quot;family values&quot; is a phrase better suited to making sure that families can keep their kids fed, educated - and not so much to preventing people from getting married. 
It seems to me that even the right&#039;s co-option of religion could be shredded fairly easily. &quot;What would Jesus do?&quot; is actually a pretty powerful tool when you consider it: a liberal, pacifist rabbi who championed the poor isn&#039;t really the best icon for Tom DeLay&#039;s swindling buds, now is he?</description>
